PDP Leader Mehbooba Mufti Underlines Kashmiri Pandits' Return as Symbol of Valley's Inherent Brotherhood and Unity

Srinagar,09-04-2024: Mehbooba Mufti, the President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized on Tuesday that the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley doesn’t necessitate assistance from any political entity. Rather, it reflects the collective desire of Kashmiri people to witness their return and harmonious coexistence, reminiscent of the past.

“The people of Kashmir aspire for the peaceful return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley, reminiscent of the harmonious cohabitation they once shared in a serene atmosphere,” Mufti conveyed to the media following her visit to Abhi Guzer Srinagar to offer condolences on the passing of senior photojournalist Roshan Lal Sharma.

Mufti underlined that Kashmiri Pandits residing in Jammu or elsewhere under challenging circumstances don’t rely on government aid or political entities, including herself or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to resettle in Kashmir. “The common populace yearns for the reunion of Kashmiri Pandits, fostering an environment of unity and coexistence akin to the past,” she reiterated.

Reflecting on the rich tapestry of cultural diversity that characterized Kashmir, Mufti lamented the negative portrayal of Kashmir in certain films. She lauded the resilience of Roshan Lal’s family, who chose to remain in Kashmir despite adversities, as a testament to communal harmony.
