India, Dec 10 : For the first time in Indian boxing history, the Elite Senior National Championships for men and women will be held simultaneously, bringing the country’s top boxing talent under one roof from December 31, 2025 to January 6, 2026, at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida.
Defending men’s champions Services and reigning women’s champions Railways will headline the competition, which is expected to play a key role in shaping India’s next high-performance boxing cycle. The official draw will be conducted on December 30.
According to the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), teams from across the country will compete in ten weight categories each for men and women, strictly following World Boxing Technical and Competition Rules. Each unit can field only one boxer per weight category, with no reserves permitted. Eligible boxers must be born between January 1, 1985, and December 31, 2006.
All bouts will be contested under international competition standards, featuring three rounds of three minutes each, one-minute rest intervals, and the 10-point must scoring system.
BFI President Ajay Singh said the National Championships remain the foundation of India’s boxing ecosystem. “Strong systems are the backbone of long-term success, and the National Championships are where that system truly begins. This platform creates opportunity, reveals talent, and ensures a fair pathway into the national camp,” he said.
He added that India’s recent success at the World Boxing Cup Finals highlighted the importance of a strong domestic structure. “As we prepare for future challenges, these championships will be crucial in identifying and preparing athletes who can carry India’s hopes forward,” Singh noted.
Several of India’s current international stars, including World Boxing Cup Finals gold medallists Sachin Siwach and Hitesh Gulia, as well as reigning world champions Minakshi and Jaismine, began their journeys at previous National Championships.
With the international calendar now moving steadily towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic cycle, the joint Nationals are once again set to act as the primary gateway to India’s elite boxing programme.
