Srinagar, 03-02-2024 : The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting the likelihood of light to moderate snow or rain in Jammu and Kashmir over the next 48 hours. As the region braces for potential precipitation, the night temperatures in the Valley have remained several notches below zero, contributing to the winter chill.
On Saturday, Srinagar experienced a minimum temperature of minus 1.7 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded a chilling minus 10.6 degrees Celsius, and Pahalgam registered minus 8.3 degrees Celsius. The harsh winter conditions persisted in the Ladakh region, with Leh town recording a minimum temperature of minus 8.7 degrees Celsius and Kargil plunging to minus 12.2 degrees Celsius.
In the Jammu region, the night temperatures varied, with Jammu city recording 7.8 degrees Celsius, Katra at 6 degrees Celsius, Batote at 0.3 degrees Celsius, Bhaderwah at minus 0.5 degrees Celsius, and Banihal at minus 0.8 degrees Celsius. These frigid temperatures underscore the continued impact of the winter season on the region.
