Srinagar, 13-03-2024 : The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting light to moderate rain and snowfall across various parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours. Additionally, there is a possibility of light precipitation in a few areas on Thursday, with generally dry weather expected from March 15th to the 20th.
In terms of temperature, most places in the region experienced a decrease, with Srinagar registering a minimum temperature of 5.4°C compared to 5.9°C the previous night. Despite this drop, temperatures remained 1.7°C above normal for this time of year in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Qazigund observed a minimum temperature of 3.4°C, down from 5.8°C the previous night, yet still 1.1°C above the seasonal average. Pahalgam, renowned for its scenic beauty, recorded a low of minus 0.5°C, slightly higher than the norm for this time of year. Similarly, Kokernag saw a minimum temperature of 4.2°C, maintaining a deviation of 1.7°C above normal.
Kupwara recorded a minimum temperature of 4.5°C, up from 4.0°C the previous night, indicating a deviation of 2.2°C above the seasonal average. Meanwhile, Gulmarg, famed for its skiing opportunities, reported a low of minus 1.2°C, indicating a deviation of 2.1°C above normal.
In Jammu, the minimum temperature settled at 14.1°C, slightly above the seasonal average. Other areas such as Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah recorded minimum temperatures of 5.6°C, 7.5°C, and 5.1°C, respectively.
