New Delhi, Oct 7: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has freed 79,774 square feet of office space across its establishments and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) as part of a Special Swachhata Campaign to promote cleaner, more efficient, and environment friendly workplaces.
Conducted between November 2024 and August 2025, the campaign focused on enhancing administrative efficiency, clearing pending matters, and improving workplace sustainability.
During the drive, the ministry organised 2,405 Swachhata campaigns across field and outstation offices. It also disposed of 493 references from Members of Parliament (MPs), two Cabinet proposals, 104 references from State Governments, and 30 communications from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Additionally, the MHA addressed 40,880 public grievances and 1,864 appeals, significantly reducing administrative backlogs.
To streamline coordination, the ministry used a dedicated digital portal allowing divisions, Union Territories, and Delhi Police to upload and track campaign data in real time — enhancing accuracy and transparency.
The initiative forms part of Special Campaign 5.0, launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), aimed at fostering cleanliness, digitisation, and sustainable government workspaces.
The MHA has directed all CAPFs and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) to actively participate and continue monthly drives to maintain cleanliness, optimise office spaces, and strengthen record management systems.
Through these sustained efforts, the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission and to creating a clean, green, and efficient governance ecosystem.
