MHA Takes Stringent Action Against Corruption in Jammu and Kashmir: 35 Employees Terminated, 32 Prematurely Retired

09-10-2023 : The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has taken strong action against corruption in Jammu and Kashmir, as reported in its annual report for the fiscal year 2022-2023, covering the period from April 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022. In line with a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, the MHA has terminated the services of 35 employees, and an additional 32 employees have been prematurely retired.

This decisive action is a testament to the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the functioning of the administration. Over the past three years, significant progress has been made in various developmental aspects, with a particular focus on ensuring the timely completion of projects and the full coverage of beneficiaries under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes.

One of the key measures adopted to combat corruption is the strict implementation of Article 311, leading to the termination of 35 employees found guilty of corrupt practices. Additionally, Article 226 has been invoked to prematurely retire 32 employees involved in corrupt activities. These actions underscore the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating corruption from its ranks.

The MHA’s financial transformation initiatives, including the use of systems like BEAMS (Budget Estimates and Monitoring System), PaySys (Payment System), 100% physical verification, mandatory administrative approval, technical sanction, and e-tendering, have expedited project completion. This has not only ensured that projects are finished more swiftly but has also contributed to increased satisfaction among the public.
