Mizoram Govt. Secretary ICT Amit Sharma gears up for digital transformation with expert-led workshops on e-Governance standards

Amit chairs twin MeitY eGovernance-related Workshops in Mizoram

Aizawl (Mizoram), Mar 11, 2025: Amit Sharma, Secretary to Government, Information, Technology, and Communications Department, Government of Mizoram, chaired two important digital Workshops held here in Aizawl, capital of Mizoram, which was organized with the primary objective of preparing Mizoram for knowledge-based transformation into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy.

Amit Sharma, Secretary, ICT & Cooperation, while inaugurating these workshops, emphasized that in order to achieve desired goals towards technology implementation across the board in all states of the nation, uniform e-Governance Standards and Guidelines are very important. He also expressed that these kinds of Workshops must be held on a regular basis, especially in North-Eastern states, which are constantly pushing toward implementing e-governance reforms.

Secretary ICT Mizoram Amit Sharma also shared various perspectives, views, experiences, and insights on various Government initiatives, the whole of Govt. approach, Digitization, Digi Locker (an Initiative towards paperless governance), BHASHINI (National Language Translation Mission), and many more.

Another parallel Workshop on Digilocker/Entry Locker and other MeitY initiatives was held in the Conference Hall of Mizoram Secretariat, in which Secretary ICT Amit Sharma addressed the Secretariat officials and requested them to take maximum advantage of these lead programs and software meant for citizens of the nation, and after attending the workshop, he requested that all officials should disseminate this knowledge gained here with other colleagues, families, and friends so that maximum people can take advantage of the same.

The twin workshops featured expert talks, presentations, discussions, & deliberations on the Digital Signature Standards, Localization & Language Technology Standards, Cyber Security Standards & Guidelines, Open API Policy for e-Governance Applications in India, Indian Accessibility Standards for ICT Products & Services, Interoperability Framework for e-Governance (IFEG) and India Enterprise Architecture (IndEA) 1.0 Framework.

Secretary ICT Mizoram Amit Sharma expressed gratitude towards the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, and Standardization Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) Directorate, New Delhi, who organized these Workshops in Mizoram on his request, with the support of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. He especially thanked Karimullah Shaikh, Scientist G, C-DAC Pune, Dr M. Srinivasa Rao, Scientist E, C-DAC Pune, and Anoop Kumar, Deputy General Manager, National eGovernance Division (NeGD), and the entire team for organizing these two important state-level awareness workshops on “e-Governance Standards and Guidelines” and “Digilocker/Entry Locker” in which about 150 participants, including senior officials and representatives from various Central and State Government departments, agencies, academicians, researchers, subject matter experts, and students from various renowned organizations attended and shared their positive experiences and insights here.
