NEW DELHI, Oct 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attended an all-faith prayer meeting at Gandhi Smriti in New Delhi to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Vice President C P Radhakrishnan was also present at the event, organised at the site where Gandhi was assassinated.
During the programme, school students performed the devotional bhajan ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ with musical instruments. Modi later interacted with the students, shook hands with some of them and blessed others.
The children spoke enthusiastically with the prime minister and responded to his questions during the interaction.
Modi also met and greeted religious leaders representing different faiths who attended the prayer meeting.
Sharing details of the event on X, Modi said he joined the prayer meeting at Gandhi Smriti and recalled Gandhi’s enduring message. He also highlighted his interaction with the students as an important part of the programme.
Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat. He was assassinated in New Delhi on January 30, 1948.
