JAMMU,09-11-2024: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta hailed the Central Government’s upcoming move to introduce a comprehensive ‘National Counter-Terrorism Policy and Strategy’ as a major step towards ensuring the absolute elimination of terrorism from J&K.
In a statement issued to media persons, the BJP stalwart leader while citing the remark made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah over centre bringing new strategy to counter terrorism, expressed confidence that the endeavour would effectively contain the menace of terrorism that has presently given headache to the security agencies across the UT.
Kavinder said that the National Counter-Terrorism Policy and Strategy will prove to be a game-changer for the security of the region. “This proactive and strategic approach will go a long way in eliminating terrorism and ensuring unquestionable peace in the region. It is likely that J&K will soon witness a significant reduction in terror activities”, he said, adding that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has always prioritized the safety and well-being of the people of the UT.
“The security forces including Army, CRPF and J&K Police, have been playing an exemplary role in countering terror, but with the new national counter-terrorism policy, the coordinated efforts will be more effective, targeted and relentless,” he maintained.
Referring to Amit Shah’s remarks, the BJP leader noted that the new strategy would involve not only strengthening security forces but also targeting terror financing, breaking the infrastructure of terrorism, and disrupting cross-border terror networks. “The policy will ensure that the state and central security agencies work in tandem, with cutting-edge technology and intelligence at their disposal, to root out terrorism from every corner of the region”, he stated and added that the days of terrorism flourishing in Jammu and Kashmir are now numbered as the unwavering commitment of the Modi government along with the robust counter-terrorism strategy will leave no space for terror in J&K.
“The people of the region, who have suffered for too long will finally be able to live in peace and prosperity”, he anticipated.
