Jammu, July 4: BJP MP Rajya Sabha Er. Gulam Ali Khatana today appreciated the Jammu and Kashmir administration for framing a policy to provide 150 square yard plots to landless poor families here for the construction of their houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY). Hailing the policy of providing plots to the landless as a path-breaking initiative under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, MP Khatana said that during past 70 years of successive governments, nobody thought of providing houses and land to the poor.
In a statement issued here, MP Khatana said that when he raised the question of how many Housing colonies have been established by the Housing Department, JK Housing Board, Srinagar Development Authority, Jammu Development Authority for SCs, STs, OBCs, EWS, poor in J&K, the answer was a dismal no. But PM Narendra Modi recently sanctioned an additional 1.90 Lakh houses under PMAY and now the policy of allotting 5 marla plots to landless will bring a transformation change in the lives of landless and houseless poor.
He further said that the government has already given plots to 2,711 landless families across Jammu and Kashmir and will be providing land as per the list govt has and hope to complete the existing backlog by March 2024, as informed by the LG Manoj Sinha.
MP Gulam Ali said that PM Narendra Modi-led govt believes in Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas and does not discriminate on the basis of region, religion or caste, and the developmental strides witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 can be seen on the ground. He said that after the abrogation of Article 370, more than 800 central laws have been extended to the UT which are immensely beneficial for the poor and backward.
