Mumbai, J&K Seal Comfortable Victories After Clinical Performances

Both teams secure convincing victories on final day; Mumbai top Group D as J&K claim third win

Mumbai, Nov 19: Mumbai needed barely half an hour on the final morning to finish off Puducherry and seal an innings-and-222-run victory, securing the top spot in Group D of the Ranji Trophy.

Resuming at 231 for 6 after following on with a massive 498-run first innings deficit, Puducherry folded for 276 within just 8.3 overs on Wednesday. They added only 45 runs before losing their remaining four wickets.

Tushar Deshpande took two wickets while skipper Shardul Thakur and Ayush Mhatre picked one each as Mumbai wrapped up the win in quick time. Both Deshpande and Thakur finished the match with five wickets apiece. Earlier, Siddhesh Lad and Akash Anand had powered Mumbai to a commanding 630/5 declared with fluent centuries.

With this, Mumbai claimed seven points, finishing Group D with 24 points from five matches. Puducherry failed to earn any points.

J&K Hammer Hyderabad to Claim Third Win

In Jammu, Abid Mushtaq delivered a sensational spell to guide Jammu & Kashmir to a massive win over Hyderabad, who were bowled out for 190 while chasing an improbable 472.

Hyderabad began the day at 169 for 7 but survived only 5.2 overs, adding just 21 runs before collapsing. Abid Mushtaq took all three remaining wickets, completing a remarkable 7 for 68, his ninth five wicket haul in first-class cricket.

This was J&K’s third win of the season, earning them six points, finishing just behind Mumbai in Group D with 20 points.
