Narcotics Arrest: Two Individuals from Punjab Caught with Substantial Drug Consignment in J&K’s Kulgam

Kulgam Drug Haul: Jammu and Kashmir Police Intercept Punjab Duo with 19 kg of Contraband

29-09-2023 : In a recent development, the Jammu and Kashmir police apprehended two individuals from Punjab in the Kulgam district of the region, seizing a substantial quantity of contraband substances from their possession. The arrest and recovery were made by a police team from the Qazigund police station during a routine patrol, where they observed two individuals acting suspiciously while carrying luggage bags. The police promptly intercepted the individuals.

Upon realizing they were being approached by the police, both suspects attempted to flee the scene, but the officers effectively pursued and apprehended them. Subsequent inspection of their luggage bags revealed a significant haul of approximately 19 kilograms of poppy straw-like contraband substances.

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Balwinder Singh, a resident of Shairiwala Ludhiana in Punjab, and Harvinder Singh, hailing from Walipor Khurad Ludhiana, Punjab. In response to this incident, a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Qazigund police station. An in-depth investigation into the matter has also been initiated by the police.

Additionally, the local police have called upon the public to report any instances of drug peddling or other criminal activities they may come across.
