Narendra Modi Condemns UAE Attack That Left Three Indians Injured

Three Indians Injured in Drone Strike on UAE Oil Zone

NEW DELHI, May 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday strongly condemned the attacks on the United Arab Emirates’ port city of Fujairah, where three Indian nationals were injured following a series of drone strikes that triggered a major fire in an oil industry zone.
The sharp reaction from the Indian Prime Minister came a day after the UAE accused Iran of carrying out the strikes amid escalating tensions in the Gulf region.
“Strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable,” Modi said in a statement posted on social media.
India Extends Solidarity With UAE
Reaffirming India’s support for the UAE, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in resolving regional conflicts.
“India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and reiterates its support for the peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy,” he said.
Modi also highlighted the strategic importance of secure maritime routes in the Gulf, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas supplies pass.
“Ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is vital for enduring regional peace, stability and global energy security,” he added.
Gulf Conflict Raises Concerns Over Energy Security
The attack on Fujairah comes at a time when the fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran is facing increasing pressure in the Gulf waters.
The Strait of Hormuz continues to remain a flashpoint in the ongoing tensions, with disruptions in shipping activity causing concern across global energy markets. The conflict has already led to a spike in international oil prices and fears of supply shortages in several countries dependent on Gulf energy exports.
UAE Says Air Defence Intercepted Missiles and Drones
According to the UAE Defence Ministry, the country’s air defence systems intercepted multiple aerial threats launched during the attack.
Officials said 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four drones fired from Iran were successfully engaged before causing wider damage.
The ministry said the UAE “remains fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats” and vowed to firmly confront any attempt to undermine the nation’s security and stability.
Authorities are continuing to assess the extent of the damage caused to the oil facilities, while the condition of the injured Indian nationals is being closely monitored.
