New York, Apr 11 : Natasha Lyonne has responded to reports surrounding her recent removal from a flight, offering clarity and an apology to fellow passengers affected by the disruption.
Taking to the social platform X on April 10, the 47 year old actress explained that she had taken a prescribed sedative shortly after boarding a red eye flight to New York. According to Lyonne, the intention was to rest ahead of her scheduled appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.
She shared that she boarded the flight smoothly with minimal luggage and had planned to arrive well-rested for her television engagement with Drew Barrymore. However, the situation escalated before takeoff, ultimately causing her to miss the planned appearance.
Reports suggest that Lyonne allegedly did not comply with standard pre-departure safety instructions, including securing her seatbelt and closing her laptop. Crew members noticed her appearing unresponsive, possibly due to the effects of the medication. As a result, the aircraft returned to the gate, where she was escorted off by airline staff. The delay reportedly extended beyond an hour, impacting other travelers.
Addressing the inconvenience, Lyonne publicly apologised to passengers, acknowledging the delay caused by the incident. The episode comes shortly after she opened up about personal challenges earlier this year, including a relapse during her sobriety journey.
