National Conference Chief Evades ED Questioning in J&K Cricket Association Financial Irregularities Case

Srinagar, 11-01-2024 : Farooq Abdullah, the president of the National Conference (NC), opted to skip the Enforcement Directorate’s summons on Thursday concerning a money laundering investigation related to alleged irregularities in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). The 86-year-old politician, who represents the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat, was called to the ED’s Srinagar office for questioning. Farooq Abdullah had been charge-sheeted by the ED in 2022 in connection with the JKCA case.

The case involves the alleged diversion of funds from the JKCA to personal bank accounts and unexplained cash withdrawals, as detailed in a 2018 CBI charge sheet. The reasons for his non-appearance were not provided. The ED has yet to announce if a new date has been issued for questioning.
