NC Leaders Hold Demonstration Outside Assembly Over Escalating Middle East Crisis

Party expresses solidarity with Iran, calls for condemnation of violence against leadership

JAMMU, Mar 27: Leaders of the National Conference (NC), headed by MLA Tanvir Sadiq, staged a protest outside the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Friday, voicing support for Iran amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Addressing reporters during the demonstration, Sadiq said the party stood firmly with Iran and reiterated a united position within both the National Conference and the J&K government. He noted that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had earlier denounced the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, adding that the protest was a continuation of that stance.

Sadiq informed that he had submitted a call attention notice and moved an adjournment motion in the Assembly to raise the issue formally.

Emphasising the party’s viewpoint, he said that no nation should engage in aggression against another and strongly criticised the manner in which a prominent religious leader was killed. He further urged the country’s top leadership to speak out against such incidents.

The protest underscored the National Conference’s position on global developments and its demand for a collective condemnation of violence targeting political and religious figures.
