Jammu, Feb 11: National Conference minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday strongly criticised BJP legislators in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, alleging that their actions reflected “unprecedented misconduct” and persistent falsehoods.
Drawing on her two decades of legislative experience, Itoo remarked that she had never witnessed such behaviour inside the House, describing it as deeply troubling for parliamentary decorum.
The minister cited the BJP’s treatment of Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary a day earlier as an instance of what she termed unacceptable conduct.
She also noted that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had exercised patience over the past three days by allowing Opposition members ample opportunity to voice their views while restraining treasury bench responses. However, she questioned the language used by BJP members once the Chief Minister began replying.
Calling for accountability, Itoo urged the legislators to issue an unconditional apology, stating that the apology should extend not only to the Assembly but also to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
