NC seeks compensation for students forced to appear for CUET outside J&K

JAMMU June 14th : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference asked the government to compensate all J&K based students who were compelled to appear for the Common Undergraduate Entrance Test (CUET) outside the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary JKNC Jammu, criticized the government’s decision to hold the CUET 2023 outside the JKUT. He said that students residing in far-flung areas have spent thousands of rupees on traveling, food, and accommodation to appear in the CUET exam by going to the other state. This decision by the government has caused immense difficulty and frustration to the students and their families, he added.

Pertinent to mention here that the government has yesterday announced that students who were not able to appear in the CUET exam outside the state will be given admission in subjects and colleges of their choice, the senior NC questioned why such a decision was not taken earlier.

The senior NC leader urged the government to provide admission to all J&K based students in local colleges of the JKUT and compensate all such students who were forced to appear for the CUET exam outside the JKUT. He strongly believed that the government should prioritize the convenience and well-being of students and ensure that such unjust decisions are not taken in the future, causing further stress and hardship to the students and their families. The LG administration is a bureaucratic setup which is anti people which is clear in the mind of civil society in J&K UT, Mr Bashir Ahmed, he added.
