NC welcomes start of two Railway parcel vans for transportation of Apples

Imran says step will help mitigate the losses faced by fruit growers and traders who have been grappling with NH44 closure

Srinagar, 11 Sept: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar Thursday welcomed the Indian Railways’ decision to operate two dedicated parcel vans for the transportation of Apples from the Kashmir Valley to Jammu and Delhi, starting Thursday.

He said that the initiative would provide much-needed relief to the horticulture sector, which has been severely impacted by the prolonged closure of National Highway-44 (Srinagar-Jammu highway) due to recent torrential rains and flooding in the region.

Highlighting the significance of the move, he said, “This step will help mitigate the losses faced by fruit growers and traders who have been grappling with disruptions and closure of NH44. Ensuring a smooth supply chain for perishable goods like fruits is crucial for sustaining the Valley’s economy.”

Imran Nabi Dar also appreciated the efforts of Hon’ble CM Omar Abdullah in pushing for the much needed initiative aimed at supporting Kashmir’s agrarian and horticultural community. He reiterated the party’s commitment to advocating for the welfare of farmers and growers across the region.
