Srinagar, Nov 27: The ruling National Conference (NC) on Thursday began its two-day Working Committee meeting in Srinagar to hold comprehensive deliberations on crucial party affairs, public issues, and ongoing political developments.
The meeting, chaired by NC president Farooq Abdullah, is being held at the party headquarters, Nawa-i-Subah. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, cabinet ministers, and senior party leaders are also in attendance.
A party leader said that members of the Working Committee will discuss key organisational matters, review current political activities, and assess pressing public concerns. The deliberations are aimed at strengthening the party’s outreach, evaluating recent developments, and planning the future course of action.
The meeting holds particular significance following the NC’s recent losses in the Budgam and Nagrota assembly bypolls, as well as the ongoing differences with Srinagar Lok Sabha MP Ruhullah Mehdi. Mehdi, who has been openly critical of the government, was notably absent from the session.
The discussions are expected to shape the party’s strategic roadmap in the months ahead.
