NCW Chairperson Holds Mahila Jansunwai in Jammu, Promises Swift Action on Women’s Grievances

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 26: Chairperson National Commission for Women (NCW), Vijaya Rohatkar today chaired a public hearing for women (Mahila Jansunwai) under ‘NCW Aapke Dwar’ initiative.

The event was held with an aim to address women’s issues and provide speedy redressal of their grievances

 Deputy Commissioner, Jammu,DIG, jammu,Director, Social Welfare Jammu; SSP Jammu; ADC Jammu besides other senior officers of Police and Social Welfare Department were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson highlighted the objectives of program and said that the hearing aims to resolve long-pending cases and extend on-the-spot support to women facing difficulties, ensuring prompt justice for each woman who comes forward.

The Chairperson further said that the NCW is conducting training sessions under its YASHODA–AI program to empower women digitally. She said that the outreach program was organized to raise awareness among youth about gender equality and women’s rights

Earlier, Women from Jammu and nearby districts participated in the hearing and present their grievances directly before the Commission  regarding domestic violence against them.

The Chairperson directed the District magistrate and SSP Jammu to resolve all the issues of women on priority basis. She assured the affected women to take all necessary action on their complaints.  Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rakesh Minhas and DIG jammu Shiv kumar on the occasion briefed the Chairperson about the action  already been taken on complaints given by the women in different platforms as well as other cases.

Later, the Chairperson, NCW also chaired a meeting with senior officers of Police and District administration of Jammu Division.

During review meeting,  threadbare discussions were held on various issues pertaining to women safety.

DIG ,Police, Shiv Kumar briefed the chair about current status of crimes against women and necessary action being taken by the police authorities.

Other issues like gender sensitisation program, efforts and measures for women’s safety, new crime law for women and  violence against women issues were also discussed in the meeting.

The Chairperson appreciated the efforts taken by the police and district administration, highlighting that effective coordination and more hard work is needed to achieve desired goals in this regard. She also stressed upon the district administration to organise more awareness programs on these issues.
