Prime Minister Modi lauded by alliance leaders as NDA secures 202 out of 243 Bihar Assembly seats

NEW DELHI, Dec 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was felicitated by MPs of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Tuesday following the coalition’s resounding victory in the recent Bihar assembly elections.

The NDA Parliamentary Party meeting at the Parliament House complex saw the presence of senior union ministers, including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and BJP president J.P. Nadda. PM Modi was garlanded by JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha, both members of the Rajya Sabha.

A delegation of NDA leaders from Bihar had earlier called on the Prime Minister on Monday to congratulate him on the alliance’s decisive win. Addressing the MPs, Modi urged the alliance to work with renewed vigour for the welfare of the people, emphasizing that “with great victory comes great responsibility.”

In the 243-member Bihar Assembly, the NDA secured 202 seats. The BJP won 89 seats, JD(U) 85, LJP (Ram Vilas) 19, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) five, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha four. The results pave the way for JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar to assume the chief ministership for the 10th term.
