JAMMU, SEP 2: Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), Jammu has asserted that the visit of the NHAI senior functionaries to make on the spot assessment of National Highway-44 especially in Sarore Toll Plaza area as a mere eyewash just to befool and betray the people of this Union Territory.
In a statement issued to media here today the National Conference stalwart said that the Govt had assured the protesting people that it would resolve the issue of removal of Sarore Toll Plaza in four days but nothing has been done in this regard till date. He accused the BJP Govt at the Centre as well as the Union Territory Administration of betraying the people of Jammu on every significant issue. He lamented that the Govt has taken the people of Jammu for granted least bothering about their aspirations. He said that what could be more sarcastic than the concerned minister Nitin Gadkari’s failure to fulfill the commitment made in the Parliament on 06-02-2020 that no Toll plaza will be installed within less than 60 kms range and if it was installed that would be illegal and will be removed within three months.
Rattan Lal said that as of today there is massive anguish among the people which is evidenced by Jammu Bandh calls becoming successful, agitations and protests going unabated against illegal Sarore Toll Plaza and the installation of Smart Meters. He claimed that the recent Jammu Bandhs have given a heavy financial setback to J&K for which the government stands wholly and solely responsible. He lamented that youth are protesting against recruitment scams and even the employees, especially the daily wagers are on the roads staging protests against Govt for their quite genuine demands. In such a scenario, it can be said without any doubt that the BJP Govt is just befooling the people of this Union Territory and the nation.
Rattan Lal Gupta asserted that people of J&K have now realized that only the National Conference is their first and last hope and they are anxiously waiting to give a befitting reply to BJP in upcoming elections by dislodging the incompetent Govt at the Centre and J&K who did nothing for J&K except betraying its people.
