SRINAGAR, Feb 3: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out searches at the residence of a suspect in Rainawari, Srinagar, as part of an ongoing investigation into the terror network in the Kashmir Valley, officials said.
The early-morning operation took place at a house in the Hazari Bazar area. The action follows NIA raids on Monday across six locations in three districts of Kashmir, including Rafiabad, Sopore, Bomai in Baramulla, Bandipora, and Parimpora in Srinagar.
Among the targeted residences were those of former Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh and ex-militant Iqbal Sheikh in Bomai. Other locations included former government employees Mohammad Munwar Mir at Rafiabad and Farooq Ahmad Peer at Model Town in Sopore. Additionally, raids were conducted at the homes of retired teacher Mohammad Maqbool Mir in Bandipora and Zahoor-ul-Raheem in Parimpora, officials added.
The operations are part of a broader probe aimed at dismantling terror networks operating in the region.
