SRINAGAR/NEW DELHI, Dec 1: The National Investigation Agency intensified its probe into the Delhi car bomb blast case with a fresh round of coordinated raids across Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. The agency conducted extensive searches at multiple premises linked to accused individuals and suspects believed to be connected to the November 10 explosion near the Red Fort, which claimed 15 lives and triggered a multi-state counter-terror crackdown.
According to an official statement, NIA teams searched nine locations in total—eight in Kashmir’s Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama and Awantipora areas, and one in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. During these operations, investigators seized several digital devices, mobile phones, storage media, documents and other incriminating materials that are now being forensically examined to trace communication patterns, financial trails and possible foreign links.
The latest action comes after the agency carried out extensive back-to-back searches on November 26 and 27 at the Faridabad premises of prime accused Dr Muzammil Ganaie and Dr Shaheen Saeed, including properties located within the Al Falah University complex. Those raids had yielded large quantities of cash, foreign currency, gold and critical documents, all of which investigators believe could provide deeper insights into the planning and funding of the attack.
So far, the NIA has arrested seven key accused in the case and continues to interrogate them to map the full structure of what it has described as a sophisticated “white-collar” terror module. The network allegedly drew in educated individuals through ideological radicalisation and operated with a high degree of secrecy to evade surveillance.
In today’s searches, officials confirmed that NIA teams raided the Shopian home of Moulvi Irfan Ahmad Wagay, who is suspected to be the mastermind behind the radicalisation and recruitment of module members. Wagay was arrested in October and later taken into NIA custody for detailed questioning. The agency believes he played a pivotal role in indoctrinating and coordinating the group.
Raids were also carried out in Koil, Chandgam, Malangpora and Samboora in Pulwama district—areas linked to individuals under scrutiny for aiding the module. Additionally, NIA searched the residence of Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather, who was apprehended earlier this month from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
The NIA emphasised that it is working in close coordination with police forces across multiple states to ensure that every conspirator and facilitator involved in the Delhi blast is traced, arrested and brought to justice. Parallel teams have been deployed to follow digital footprints, financial transactions and cross-border communication channels that may further reveal the extent of the conspiracy.
