New Delhi, Oct 4: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against a key accused in the Chandigarh Sector 10 grenade attack, orchestrated by foreign based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorists.
The accused, Abhijot Singh alias Babba alias Gopi, a Punjab resident arrested in April 2025, has been named in the supplementary chargesheet submitted before the Special NIA Court, Chandigarh.
The attack, which targeted a retired Punjab Police officer, was part of a larger conspiracy to instill fear, masterminded by Pakistan-based BKI terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda in collusion with US-based gangster Happy Passia, who handled recruitment, funding, and supply of weapons and explosives.
Earlier, NIA had chargesheeted Rinda and Passia as absconders, along with arrested accused Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih in March 2024. Investigations revealed Abhijot Singh’s involvement after he travelled to Armenia in December 2023 and was recruited into Passia’s terror network by Shamsher Shera.
After returning to India, Abhijot conducted reconnaissance in July 2024 and, along with Rohan Masih, attempted to assassinate the retired officer in August 2024 with funding from foreign BKI handlers. The grenade attack was eventually carried out by Rohan and Vishal in September 2024.
The NIA continues its efforts to trace other associates who provided logistical support and terror material to the operatives involved in the conspiracy.
