Night Temperatures Edge Upward Across Kashmir Valley

Cloudy skies bring marginal improvement, but mercury stays below freezing across Valley

Kashmir, Nov 29 : Cold conditions in Kashmir eased slightly as night temperatures improved across most parts of the Valley due to cloudy weather, though the mercury remained below the freezing point, officials from the Meteorological Department said on Saturday.

A dense layer of fog covered several areas, particularly regions surrounding water bodies, affecting visibility in the early hours.

Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of –3.1°C on Friday night, a notable rise from the season’s coldest –4.5°C the previous night.

Konibal in Pulwama remained the coldest in the Valley, dipping to –6.0°C.

Other key temperature readings included:

Qazigund: –3.4°C

Kupwara: –4.9°C

Kokernag: –1.6°C

Pahalgam: –5.2°C

Gulmarg: –1.3°C

Despite the marginal improvement, cold waves persist across the region.

The MeT department has predicted mainly dry weather in Kashmir until December 10, with no major Western Disturbances expected in the immediate forecast.
