Noida Techie Case: Delivery Agent Claims Police Pressured Him to Give Favorable Statement

Moninder Singh claims he was coerced into backing police account after saving Yuvraj Mehta from flooded pit

New Delhi, Jan 21 : The delivery agent who bravely attempted to rescue Noida software engineer Yuvraj Mehta from a flooded pit in Sector 150 has alleged that police pressured him to provide statements in their favor.

Moninder Singh, the delivery agent, had entered the pit after noticing that police and rescue teams were reluctant to intervene. “I tied a rope around my waist and went into the water myself. I searched for the youth and his car for around 30 minutes,” Singh said, adding that Mehta could have been saved had the authorities acted sooner.

Yuvraj Mehta drowned after his car crashed into a drainage wall and plunged into the flooded pit. He had stood on the roof of his SUV for around 90 minutes, calling his father for help, but emergency responders failed to rescue him in time.

While Singh was hailed as a hero, the incident sparked criticism of the police and emergency teams for their delayed response.

Now, with an SIT investigation underway, Singh claimed he was summoned to a police station and taken to a nearby park, where officers scolded him for speaking to the media. “I was directed to give statements in favour of the police, saying that cops were inside the water and did all possible efforts to rescue Yuvraj Mehta,” Singh told Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, police have arrested Abhay Singh, CEO of MZ Wiztown Planners, in connection with Yuvraj’s death. The builder faces charges under Sections 105, 106(1), and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for alleged culpable homicide due to negligence.

The case continues to draw attention to delayed emergency response and administrative lapses that contributed to the techie’s tragic death.
