Northern Command Wraps Up Multi-Domain Exercise to Boost Future Warfare Preparedness

Tri service drill tests cyber, space, electromagnetic, and cognitive capabilities, with industry and central agencies joining forces

New Delhi, Oct 18 : A four day tri service, multi domain exercise organized under the aegis of Northern Command concluded recently, aimed at sharpening India’s preparedness for next generation warfare. The drill simulated intense futuristic conflict scenarios, providing valuable lessons, faster response strategies, and new benchmarks in operational readiness, an Army spokesperson said.

The exercise challenged commanders, staff, and troops with threats spanning cyber, space, electromagnetic, and cognitive domains. Participation included Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), sister services, central government agencies, and private sector partners, highlighting the significance of a unified, “whole of nation” approach to evolving security challenges.

Indigenous defence industry involvement set a new benchmark for achieving jointness, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and innovation. Troops deployed in forward areas practiced countermeasures against cyber intrusions, spectrum saturation, electronic jamming, spoofing, and cognitive attacks.

Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Northern Army Commander, said, “In modern warfare, domain boundaries are blurring. We must leverage niche technology and innovate continuously. A whole-of-nation approach is essential to safeguard our territorial integrity and critical assets while maintaining the capability to undertake punitive action if required.”

Initiated following discussions during the Samvad held in Mathura on October 4, the exercise demonstrated that future warfare readiness relies on open minds, seamless teamwork, and multi domain synergy. Northern Command now stands better equipped, coordinated, and prepared to tackle emergent threats with strategic foresight, the spokesperson added.
