27-07-2022 : Jammu: Jammu Kashmir Pardesh Congress took out a protest rally at Bagh-e-Bahu in Jammu against the arrest of Rahul Gandhi along with other MPs and torched effigies of Modi & Amit Shah. The rally led by JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla and joined by Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, JKPCC General Secretary & District President Incharge Yogesh Sawhney, Uday Bhanu Chib Youth President, Sewadal Chairman Vijay Sharma Babbi, Block President Jatinder Singh Chib, Latish Sharma, Satpal Sapolia, Mulakh Raj, Sahil Langeh, Panch Gagan Bral, Atul Sharma, Ram Magotra, Balram Langeh, Arif Malik, Gurdeep Singh, Diwan Chand, Happy Randhawa, Mangat Ram, Sahil Shavotra, Satish Kumar beside others. Party activists carrying placards in their hands raised vociferous slogans against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Modi government.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that BJP-led central government harassed its top leaders by implicating them in “false” cases. He said that by resorting to harassment in the garb of money laundering cases, the central government is stirring a hornet’s nest for which Bharatiya Janata Party and its leaders will have to pay a heavy price. Senior Congress leader accused the Union government of using its agencies as tools against the opposition party leaders.”It is an irony that without the registration of FIR or the presence of money transaction records or evidence, the enforcement directorate is making every effort to book the reputed senior leaders of Congress. In such situations and circumstances how it can be a money laundering case,” Bhalla questioned. He said Congress workers will continue to protest “till ED, CBI, NIA stop harassing our leaders”.

Bhalla further stated, “They called Rahul Gandhi for five days, now they have called Sonia Gandhi for the third time. The ED has created terror in the country.” He said that laws shouldn’t be “weaponized” to “target and humiliate”, adding he said the ED should bear in mind Sonia’s age and health issues. “The Modi sarkar has unleashed a relentless campaign of vendetta against its political opponents and critics through the mischievous misuse of investigative agencies. Prominent leaders of a number of political parties have been deliberately targeted and subjected to harassment in an unprecedented manner. We condemn this and resolve to continue and intensify our collective fight against the anti-people, anti-farmers and anti-Constitution policies of the Modi sarkar that is destroying the social fabric of our society,” Bhalla said.

JKPCC Working President observed that ED should have gone to her residence to take her responses to their questions,” he said, citing precedent, and added that this is being done to “harass” her. Stressing upon the old age and health issues of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Bhalla stated that the ED has all necessary papers and documents that they have been investigating over the years. “They have also questioned Rahul Gandhi, then why call Sonia Gandhi?” Bhalla asked. She is old and has been unwell since contracting Covid, he added

JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma is his address said that there are no enemies in politics and there should not be. But they consider the Opposition as enemies. Recently in Hyderabad, Modi spoke about regional parties, he talked about dynasties. They had been talking about Congress-mukt Bharat all along. Now their mantra is Opposition-mukt Bharat so that there is dictatorship in India. The country is moving forward in that direction,” he said.

. JKPCC General Secretary & District President Incharge Yogesh Sawhney said that ’Congress will continue to raise its voice against the fact that the Gandhi family has sacrificed for this country and that Gandhi family is being persecuted by the Modi government in the name of investigation . ’Central probe agencies like ED, CBI, Income Tax have become slaves of the government and at the Centre’s instructions they are taking action against the opponents. But Congress is not afraid of such actions,’’ said Sawhney. He said that raising voice against the government is part of the democratic tradition but the BJP government is working to suppress the voice of the opposition.

Sewadal Chairman Vijay Sharma Babbi  speaking on the occasion said that we are proud that we are members of that party whose history is full of sacrifices for the sake of this country,” he said, adding that the Gandhi family too had “made supreme sacrifices for the nation”.”BJP is playing vendetta politics, but neither the Congress nor Rahul Gandhi will be cowed down by their actions,” he said. Hitting out at the BJP-led government, he said, “To divert attention of the people from vital issues, they are indulging in vendetta politics. Rahul Gandhi has been exposing them on various fronts, so they are trying to build pressure, but the Congress party and Rahul will continue to expose them before people on various issues.

Youth President Uday Bhanu Chib said that BJP leadership is using the enforcement agencies to rake up old cases against the Congress leaders in which clean chit have already been given. “In the run up to the 2024 general elections to Parliament, BJP is not finding anything to target the opposition,” he said. He alleged that BJP is out to finish the opposition. “Cases against Congress leaders are filed to divert the attention from the burning issues concerned common man,” he said. He said that Congress is the only political party who is constantly exposing the BJP government and alleged that all other political parties are ‘B’ team of the BJP.
