Dubai: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval held discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Riyadh, with both sides focusing on energy security, maritime safety and the evolving situation in the West Asian region.
The high-level meeting took place amid growing concerns over possible disruptions to global energy supplies and important shipping routes due to increasing tensions in the region. The ongoing conflict involving the United States and Iran has raised concerns about the stability of key maritime corridors that play a crucial role in international trade and energy transportation.
According to the Saudi Foreign Ministry, Doval and Prince Faisal reviewed bilateral ties and explored ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia.
The ministry said the two leaders exchanged views on recent regional developments and discussed measures aimed at ensuring energy stability and safeguarding critical sea routes.
Third Visit by Doval to Saudi Arabia This Year
The latest visit marks Ajit Doval’s third trip to Saudi Arabia in the current year, highlighting the importance India attaches to its strategic relationship with the Gulf nation.
The meeting was also attended by Saudi Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Saud Al-Sati, who joined discussions on regional and diplomatic matters.
Doval’s repeated engagements with Saudi officials underline ongoing cooperation between the two countries on issues including security, energy supplies, economic relations and regional stability.
Concerns Over Maritime Security in West Asia
Doval’s visit comes at a time when security concerns have increased across major shipping routes in West Asia.
The situation became more complicated after Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels announced a proposed maritime blockade targeting Saudi vessels in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The group claimed the move was in response to alleged restrictions imposed by Riyadh on ports and airports in areas under Houthi control.
Saudi Arabia rejected the allegations and stated that it would take necessary steps to protect its vessels while following international laws and maritime regulations.
The developments have increased worries about the safety of important trade routes, especially as disruptions have already affected shipping movement through the Strait of Hormuz amid US-Iran tensions.
India Focuses on Securing Energy Supplies

Doval had previously travelled to Riyadh in February and April, where he held discussions with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and National Security Advisor Musaed bin Mohammed Al Aiban.
