NSF celebrates 162th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore

JAMMU, May 07: National Secular Forum (NSF), University Unit organized a programmed in University Campus, and on the Birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore who laid his life for the country.

A programme in this connection was organized wherein Dr Vikas Sharma Coordinator Jammu District (Urban) and Zonal Secretary JKNC was the Chief Guest while TR Sharma KAS (Retd), Presided over the function. Vikshay Vashist District President NSF was the guest of honour.

The activists of NSF paid tributes to Rabindranath Tagore and garlanded the portraits of the son of soil, who laid down his life for the sake of the country.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Vikas Sharma threw light on the life history of Rabindranath Tagore and appreciated the efforts of NSF and appealed to the youth to come forward to eliminate all evils from the society.

Dr. Vikas Sharma expressed that present day youth was frustrated due to lack of job opportunities and neck deep corruption in the recruitment process being followed by the UT administration.

He mentioned that people have suffered a lot during the last four years especially after the abrogation of Article 370, bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir and downgraded of State to a Union Territory. He urged the young generation to strengthen the hands of J&K National Conference (JKNC) enabling it to redouble its efforts to get the status of Jammu and Kashmir statehood restored.

While Speaking TR Sharma stressed upon the youth to shun their self-centered outlook and contribute in the development of the nation. He also threw light on the achievements of Rabindranath Tagore who was a Bengali poet, philosopher, artist, playwright, composer, novelist and India’s first Nobel laureate.

Vikshay Vashist Jammu District President NSF, in his speech said that the sacrifices of such great people could not be ignored, which had secured freedom for the country and its people.  Rabindranath Tagore was born on 7th May 1861 in Jorasanko Thakurbai in Kolkata. Rabindranath Tagore was born to mother Sarada Devi and Father Debendranath Tagore and he belonged to an affluent Brahmin family.

Roshan Sharma University President delivered the welcome address and Sumit Giri was delivering the vote of thanks.

Among others who spoke were Narinder Singh, Abhishek Uppal, Aditya Khajuria, Tufail Reyaz Khan, Punnet Bakshi, Aditiya sharma, Ankush Babu, and others.
