NTA Announces Re-Test for Three UGC-NET Papers

English, Commerce and Sociology exams rescheduled in September following complaints over errors in question papers

NEW DELHI, Aug 16: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a fresh examination for candidates who appeared in three papers of the UGC-NET June 2026 session after receiving complaints regarding errors in the question papers.

The affected subjects are English, Commerce and Sociology. The agency has scheduled the revised tests for September 9 and 10, according to the examination schedule announced on Sunday.

The English paper will be conducted on September 9 from 9 am to noon during the first shift. The Commerce examination will take place on the same day in the second shift, from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Candidates who appeared for the Sociology paper will have to take the examination again on September 10. The test is scheduled for the first shift, from 9 am to noon.

The decision follows representations received by the NTA concerning errors in the question papers of the three subjects. The re-test is intended to provide affected candidates an opportunity to appear for a fresh examination.

The UGC-NET June 2026 examination was conducted by the NTA between June 22 and 30 across 87 subjects. The national-level test determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as an assistant professor and admission to PhD programmes.

Candidates appearing for the re-examination are expected to follow the NTA’s official instructions regarding examination centres, admit cards and other arrangements.
