Oath Ceremony for Jammu and Kashmir MLAs Scheduled for October 21 in Srinagar

JAMMU, October 18: The much-anticipated oath ceremony for the newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of Jammu and Kashmir is set to take place on October 21, 2024, in Srinagar.

According to official sources, the ceremony will be held at the state assembly complex and will mark a significant event in the Union Territory’s political landscape. This will be the first such assembly oath-taking event since the reorganization of the state in 2019, following the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.

The event is expected to be attended by high-ranking officials, political leaders, and dignitaries, including Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who will oversee the proceedings. All newly elected representatives from various constituencies across the region are scheduled to take their oaths of office, marking the beginning of their legislative responsibilities.

Security has been heightened in and around the assembly complex in preparation for the event, with authorities ensuring a smooth and secure process. Special arrangements are being made to accommodate the dignitaries, media personnel, and other attendees.

The ceremony is seen as a crucial step in the ongoing democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir, symbolizing the region’s political normalization and the restoration of legislative functions after several years.
