Omar Abdullah Denies Government Involvement in Gulmarg Fashion Show, Questions Why Deputy CM Was Barred from Kathua While LoP Got Clearance

Jammu, Mar 10: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, addressing the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday, categorically denied the government’s involvement in organizing the controversial fashion show in Gulmarg. He asserted that the event was a private function held at a privately owned hotel and did not involve any government infrastructure or resources.

Clarifying the administration’s stance, Abdullah stated that authorities have been directed to investigate whether the event’s organizers violated any laws. “If any legal violations are found, the matter will be handed over to the police for necessary action,” he said.

Shifting focus to another contentious issue, Abdullah questioned the apparent disparity in permissions granted for political visits to Kathua. He raised concerns over why Leader of the Opposition Sunil Sharma was allowed to visit the region while the Deputy Chief Minister was denied the same privilege. “If the situation in Kathua was so serious, why was the Leader of the Opposition permitted to go while the Deputy Chief Minister was stopped?” he asked, pointing to possible inconsistencies in administrative decisions.

The Chief Minister’s remarks sparked debate in the Assembly, with opposition members pressing for further clarification on the government’s position regarding political restrictions and security concerns in the region.
