Srinagar, Oct 25: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday reflected on the National Conference’s performance in the Rajya Sabha elections, noting that while the party secured three out of four seats from Jammu and Kashmir, a fourth-seat victory slipped away due to last-minute changes in support.
Addressing the media, Omar said, “There should be no doubt about the 3-1 outcome. We made every possible effort for a 4-0 win, but in the final stage, certain quarters let us down.”
He added, “It is now fairly clear who supported us and who did not, though I won’t name anyone publicly. While it is disappointing that some withdrew support at the last moment, I am grateful to those who stood by us till the end.”
Highlighting the party’s vote discipline, Omar emphasized, “I take comfort in the fact that not a single NC vote went astray,” underlining that all National Conference votes were fully cast in favor of the party’s candidates.
The remarks came a day after the Rajya Sabha results, where the National Conference won three seats while the BJP secured one following a closely contested election.
