21-06-2023 : Omar Abdullah, the former Chief Minister and Vice President of the National Conference, shared his perspective on the potential outcome of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) participation in elections in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). According to Abdullah, if the BJP were to engage in these elections, their chances of securing more than 10 seats would be minimal.
Expressing optimism about the current state of affairs in J&K, Abdullah believed that the conditions were favorable for upcoming political events such as the G20 summit, Panchayat elections, and Lok Sabha (LS) polls. However, he cast doubt on the BJP’s prospects, suggesting that they would face significant challenges in attaining more than 10 seats if elections were to take place.
Abdullah also emphasized the crucial role of the Home Ministry in determining the feasibility of conducting elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that the Election Commission of India alone cannot make a decision regarding the polls without the input and guidance of the Home Ministry.
In his address to the people of J&K, Abdullah stressed the importance of patience, assuring them that their efforts would eventually yield positive results. Despite acknowledging the difficult circumstances, he encouraged the populace to remain hopeful and trust that the appropriate time for elections would arrive.
