Omar Abdullah: Restoring J&K Statehood the Next Big Challenge Post-Election Victory

SRINAGAR, Oct 14: National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah has highlighted the dual challenges of holding elections and restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the complexity and significance of the tasks ahead. Speaking to party workers and delegations at his Gupkar residence on Monday, Omar outlined the party’s ongoing efforts to address these pressing issues, according to a statement issued by the party.

“The path ahead is long and difficult,” Omar stated. “Holding elections was a challenge, and achieving success in them was another. But restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir remains a critical challenge for us, along with re-establishing the constitutional and democratic rights of our people,” he added.

Omar, who is expected to take the oath as Chief Minister of the Union Territory on Wednesday following the end of the president’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir, stressed the importance of maintaining strong ties with the public. He urged party leaders and workers to stay connected with people at the grassroots level and to raise their concerns and issues at all levels of governance.

“Our success has been made possible by the invaluable support and votes of the people. It is now our duty to prioritize providing relief and solutions to the public,” he asserted. He further shared that the NC has developed a comprehensive plan for the next five years and presented an organized manifesto to the public. “We will work diligently to bring awareness about this plan and ensure its implementation to address the concerns of the people,” Omar concluded.
