Operation ‘Thrashy’ A Major Breakthrough; Terror Networks Will Be Dismantled: Sunil Sharma

Opposition leader says intensified crackdown to dismantle militant networks in Jammu region

Jammu, Feb 19: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Thursday described Operation Thrashy breakthrough as a decisive success in ongoing counter terror efforts, expressing confidence that security forces will soon neutralise militant networks active in parts of the Jammu region.

Speaking to reporters, Sharma said recent developments have marked a turning point after a prolonged period of encounters that yielded limited results. He noted that the latest operation has opened new avenues in anti-terror strategy and boosted operational momentum.

Referring to areas such as Doda, Ramban, Udhampur, Machhedi and Kathua, he asserted that militants operating in these belts would face firm action. According to him, security agencies have escalated their operations and tangible outcomes are expected in the coming days.

The Opposition leader also highlighted concerns about local support systems, stating that authorities are tightening the noose around overground worker networks and technologically advanced modules allegedly assisting militancy. He said strict legal measures are being enforced against individuals found facilitating unlawful activities, directly or indirectly.

Sharma welcomed a recent directive issued by the Deputy Commissioner regulating the collection of donations during Ramadan, saying the step was aimed at preventing misuse of charitable contributions. He emphasised the need for safeguards to ensure religious donations are not diverted for illegal purposes.

Reiterating his party’s developmental agenda, Sharma also affirmed continued efforts to establish a National Law University in Jammu, stating that the demand would remain a priority.
