New Delhi, July 22: Leaders of several Opposition parties on Wednesday staged a protest outside Parliament, wearing black outfits to show support for students protesting against the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.
The demonstration saw participation from senior Opposition leaders, including Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Protesters raised slogans against the government and demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the handling of student demonstrations.
Members of the Congress, Samajwadi Party, Left parties, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Trinamool Congress, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and other INDIA bloc constituents took part in the protest held on the Parliament premises.
The Opposition leaders accused the government of failing to address concerns raised by students over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations. They also criticised the police action taken during protests and called for accountability from those responsible.
Before the demonstration, floor leaders of various INDIA bloc parties held a coordination meeting in the chamber of Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss their strategy for the ongoing Parliament session.
Rahul Gandhi, Kharge and other Opposition leaders attended the meeting, where discussions focused on raising key public issues inside and outside Parliament.
The protest comes amid continued political confrontation over examination-related concerns, with Opposition parties pressing the government for stronger measures to ensure transparency and accountability in the education system.
The government, however, has maintained that steps are being taken to protect the interests of students and strengthen the examination process. The issue is expected to remain a major point of debate during the ongoing parliamentary proceedings.
