Over 2,000 kanals of land allotted to non-local investors in J&K during January 2023 to Dec.2024, govt reveals in assembly

Jammu, 19-03-2025: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday disclosed that over 2,000 kanals of land have been allotted to non-local investors for industrial and commercial ventures in the Union Territory over the past two years. Responding to a query raised by PDP MLA Waheed-ul-Rehman Para regarding land allocations to non-residents for investment, the government, in a written reply, stated that a total of 2,093 kanals of land have been granted at various locations under the State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) from January 1, 2023, to December 12, 2024.

Providing a detailed breakdown, the government revealed that in Kathua district, at Bhagthali-I, 275 kanals have been allocated to M/s RSWM Limited, 222 kanals to M/s Grew Energy Pvt Ltd (Unit-I), and 424 kanals to M/s Grew Energy Pvt Ltd (Unit-II). Similarly, at Bhagthali-II, 201 kanals have been allotted to M/s Advance Films Pvt Ltd, 201 kanals to M/s Greenquest Alu Foils Pvt Ltd, 201 kanals to M/s Haldiram Snacks Manufacturing Plant, 209 kanals to M/s Sintex Advanced Plastic Ltd and 206 kanals to M/s Ceylon Beverages Can Pvt Ltd.

In Srinagar, at Medicity Sempora (GR), 30 kanals have been granted to M/s Magna Waves Build Tech Pvt Ltd (EMAAR Group-UAE), while an additional 100 kanals have been allotted to the same group at another location. In Jammu, at the Exhibition Ground, 24 kanals have also been provided to M/s Magna Waves Build Tech Pvt Ltd.

In response to another query regarding the total land transferred for industrial and public purposes over the past two years, the government disclosed that in Jammu Division, 6,014 kanals and 10 marlas of land have been allotted, whereas in Kashmir Division, the figure stands at 5,532 kanals and 19 marlas.

The government further clarified that no land has been transferred to public or private authorities for any purpose other than the establishment of Industrial Estates designated for public use during this period.
