New Delhi, Nov 8: The Union Government on Saturday announced that the Winter Session of Parliament will be held from December 1 to December 19, 2025, marking the final session of the year.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed the schedule on social media platform X, stating that President Droupadi Murmu had approved the government’s proposal for the session dates.
“The Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji has approved the proposal of the Government to convene the Winter Session of Parliament from 1st December 2025 to 19th December 2025 (subject to exigencies of Parliamentary business),” Rijiju posted.
The minister expressed hope for constructive and meaningful discussions during the session, which will feature several key legislative items.
According to sources, the Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirtieth Amendment) Bill, 2025 are among the major legislations likely to be introduced.
The agenda will also include the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and promoting economic reforms.
The announcement comes after a turbulent Monsoon Session, which ended on August 21 amid frequent disruptions and opposition protests. The Lok Sabha managed only 37 hours of business, far below the 120-hour target, as heated exchanges and adjournments dominated proceedings.
With the Winter Session approaching, the government has called upon all parties to ensure productive debate and cooperation to advance key national priorities before the year’s end.
