Patna, July 13: A Patna court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to renowned educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, in connection with a firing case linked to his coaching institute. The court also extended similar relief to three employees of the institute, providing a major legal reprieve to those named in the matter.
The development came after the Patna Civil Court heard arguments related to the anticipatory bail applications filed by Khan Sir and other accused persons. According to his legal representative, the court approved the plea and allowed protection from arrest in the ongoing investigation.
Khan Sir’s lawyer, Arvind Kumar Mouar, confirmed that six individuals were granted bail in the case. He said the court first announced the anticipatory bail order for Khan Sir, followed by approval for three members of the coaching institute’s staff.
Background of the Coaching Centre Firing Incident
The case originated from an incident reported in early June, when Khan Sir’s coaching institute was allegedly attacked and vandalised by a group of unidentified individuals. During the confrontation, firing took place outside the institute, following which two security guards associated with the coaching centre were accused of opening fire.
The incident led to a police investigation, with several people being named in connection with the alleged firing. The security personnel were subsequently taken into custody as part of the probe.
The defence team had argued before the court that Khan Sir and the institute employees were not directly involved in the firing incident and should be granted protection from arrest while the investigation continues.
Court Provides Relief to Security Guards
Apart from Khan Sir and the three institute staff members, the court also granted bail to two security guards who had been arrested in connection with the case.
The lawyer said the court’s decision provided relief to all six individuals whose bail pleas were considered. The order came after a brief delay, as the court had earlier postponed its decision due to the absence of the district judge.
Order Was Reserved After Final Hearing
The court had reserved its decision on July 8 after hearing detailed arguments from both sides. The final order was scheduled earlier but was deferred until July 13 due to administrative reasons, including the district judge’s leave.
During the hearing, both the prosecution and defence presented their arguments regarding the allegations and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigation Continues in the Case
While the court has granted anticipatory bail to Khan Sir and others, the police investigation into the coaching institute firing case remains ongoing. The bail order allows the accused to avoid immediate arrest but does not affect the continuation of the legal proceedings.
Authorities are expected to continue examining evidence, statements and other details related to the incident to determine the sequence of events and the role of individuals involved.
