Jammu, April 22, 24: An Executive Committee meeting of the members of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Jammu Region Chapter was held here today wherein key issues and future strategies with regard to the growth of industry and commerce in Jammu region were discussed in detail. The session, attended by prominent members of the business community, marked the first meeting after the appointment of Chair, Rakesh Wazir, who was warmly welcomed by all present.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Wazir elaborated on several steps to strengthen the chamber’s operations. These included forming a working committee, establishing zonal and different sector-specific committees for more decentralized functioning, and increasing grassroots membership to ensure wider representation and efficiency.
Mr. Vikrant Kuthiala, Former Chair of the Chapter while speaking on the occasion, said that need for a detailed review and suggestions to the authorities for the Jammu Master Plan review is needed so that those are incorporated in the Master Plan before its presentation to the Cabinet. He also stressed for urging the authorities to starting of the practice of Darbar move once again.
Kuldeep Gupta Former Co-Chair emphasised for promoting local entrepreneurs and products within the Union Territory through relaxed taxation policies.
Shyam Lal Kesar emphasized extending the package to focus on supporting smaller businesses and unemployed youth, as it was largely utilized by larger industrial players and starting of the turnover base incentive, which has been pending for a long.
Virender Kesar & Kushal Magotra stressed for increasing the stay of yatries of Vaishnodevi ji for the economic growth of the area and stressed making the tourism registration process simple.
Nitin Jain & Sanjay Gupta stressed for addressing the issue of double-taxation automobiles in the UT.
The other members raised the issues of flour mills, the issue of release of pending payments under MNREGA from 2016-17, and encroachments in the industrial area Balole whose handover of plots to entrepreneurs is still pending.
The Chamber affirmed its commitment to raising those issues at concerned quarters and working collaboratively to drive economic growth and development in the region.
