BENGALURU, Sept 7: Indian space technology startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round as the company looks to expand its satellite network and strengthen its Earth intelligence technology.
The funding round was led by Singapore state investor Temasek and UK-based Seraphim Space Investment Trust, with participation from existing investors Radical Ventures and growX Ventures. New investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment also joined the round.
Pixxel, founded by Awais Ahmed, initially focused on hyperspectral satellite imaging, a technology that can capture detailed information about the Earth’s surface beyond what conventional imagery can provide.
The company has since expanded into Earth-intelligence software through its Aurora platform, which is designed to turn satellite data into insights for commercial and government applications.
The latest capital will be used to expand Pixxel’s data gathering capabilities, including the development of its Honeybee satellite constellation and high-resolution imaging satellites.
The startup also plans to further develop Aurora to provide integrated and decision-ready information based on satellite observations.
The new funding brings Pixxel’s total capital raised to $195 million and strengthens its position in India’s growing private space sector.
Pixxel’s technology has potential applications across areas that depend on detailed Earth observation, including agriculture, resource monitoring, environmental analysis and infrastructure planning.
The latest investment also highlights growing international investor interest in India’s space tech industry, as private companies seek to build satellite networks and data platforms for commercial and government users.
With fresh capital behind its expansion plans, Pixxel is positioning itself to move beyond satellite imaging towards a broader technology platform combining spacecraft, sensors and software based Earth intelligence.
