New Delhi, Feb 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a roundtable with CEOs and founders of 16 AI and deeptech startups, discussing how artificial intelligence can transform key sectors including agriculture, environmental protection, and higher education in regional languages.
During the meeting, the prime minister emphasized the importance of strong data governance, combating misinformation, and developing AI solutions tailored to India’s unique needs. Drawing parallels with UPI’s success as a scalable digital innovation, he encouraged confidence in domestic technologies and stressed expanding private participation in India’s space and tech sectors.
On agriculture, Modi highlighted AI applications for monitoring crop productivity, managing fertilizer usage, and protecting soil health, while in education he advocated for AI tools to promote learning in mother tongues. In healthcare, he acknowledged AI-driven advancements in diagnostics, gene therapy, and patient record management to extend quality care nationwide.
Startups attending the session showcased innovations across geospatial intelligence, cybersecurity, ethical AI, social empowerment, and enterprise productivity. They praised India’s growing AI ecosystem and the country’s rising global influence in AI deployment, citing initiatives like the India AI Impact Summit as evidence of India shaping global AI discussions.
The meeting included CEOs and founders from Abridge, Adalat AI, BrainSightAI, Credo AI, Eka Care, Glean, Innogle, Invideo, Miko, Origin, Prophaze, Rasen, Rubrik, SatSure, Supernova, and Sypha AI. Key officials present were Principal Secretary P.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary-2 Shaktikanta Das, and Minister of State Jitin Prasada.
