NEW DELHI, May 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually distributed appointment letters to more than 51,000 newly recruited candidates during the latest edition of the government’s nationwide ‘Rozgar Mela’ employment drive.
The programme, organised simultaneously at 47 locations across the country, is part of the Centre’s ongoing initiative to boost employment opportunities and accelerate recruitment in various government departments and ministries.
Addressing the appointees through video conferencing, the Prime Minister described the occasion as an important milestone for thousands of young people beginning their careers in public service.
“Today is a very significant day for the youth of the country. More than 51,000 young men and women have received appointment letters for government jobs and are becoming active partners in India’s development journey,” Modi said.
According to official figures, nearly 12 lakh recruitment letters have been distributed through 18 editions of the Rozgar Mela since the initiative was launched.
The newly selected candidates will join departments and ministries including railways, home affairs, health and family welfare, higher education, banking and financial services, among others.
The Prime Minister said the recruits would shoulder important responsibilities in the years ahead and contribute directly to the goal of building a developed India.
“In sectors such as railways, banking, defence, health and education, the youth are stepping forward to take on new responsibilities. Your contribution will play a vital role in fulfilling the vision of a Viksit Bharat,” he stated.
Congratulating the selected candidates and their families, Modi said the country’s youth are emerging as a strong driving force behind India’s economic and technological progress.
He added that the global community is increasingly looking at India as a major growth engine and is eager to participate in the country’s development story.
“The world today is excited about India’s youth power and technological advancement. Countries across the globe want to become partners in India’s growth journey,” the Prime Minister said.
Officials said the Rozgar Mela initiative reflects the government’s focus on employment generation and aims to provide transparent and faster recruitment opportunities across central government institutions.
The appointees selected from different parts of the country are expected to strengthen workforce capacity in critical public sectors while also contributing to service delivery and administrative efficiency.
