PM Modi and French President Macron to Meet in Mumbai for Bilateral Talks on Feb 17

Leaders to Review India-France Partnership, Explore Cooperation in AI, Climate, Defence, and Innovation

New Delhi, Feb 16 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will welcome French President Emmanuel Macron in Mumbai on February 17 to strengthen bilateral ties and review the progress of the India-France Strategic Partnership, the government announced on Monday.

President Macron’s visit, spanning February 17–19, marks his fourth official trip to India and his first to Mumbai. During the visit, he will participate in the AI Impact Summit and attend a bilateral summit with PM Modi at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai, scheduled around 3:15 pm.

The discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, digital innovation, green technologies, defence, trade, and climate action. Both leaders will also exchange views on regional and global developments of strategic importance.

Following the talks, around 5:15 pm, PM Modi and President Macron will jointly inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, a platform designed to promote collaboration in advanced manufacturing, start-ups, research, and technology-driven growth. The event will see participation from business leaders, innovators, and researchers from both nations.

The visit underscores the growing emphasis on technology and innovation within the India-France partnership, complementing long-standing cooperation in defence, civil nuclear energy, space, maritime security, and climate initiatives. Both countries aim to deepen ties while exploring opportunities in cutting-edge fields that drive economic growth and strategic alignment.
