Kurnool, Oct 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic bus accident in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh, which claimed the lives of more than 25 passengers and injured several others.
In a post on X, PM Modi said:
“Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
The accident occurred early Friday morning when a private luxury sleeper bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire near Chinnatekuru village.
Announcing relief measures, the Prime Minister stated that an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF), while the injured would receive Rs 50,000 each.
He also directed authorities to ensure all possible support, including medical care, is provided to the victims. Rescue teams and local officials continue operations to assist those affected by the tragic incident.
The announcement underscores the central government’s commitment to providing immediate relief and support to victims of such unforeseen accidents.
