PM Modi calls on citizens to join ‘Run for Unity’ in honour of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy

The Prime Minister calls on the nation to celebrate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary by participating in the nationwide ‘Run for Unity’ as part of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations.

India, Oct 27 ; Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged citizens across the country to take part in the “Run for Unity” on October 31, marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said, “Join the Run for Unity on 31st October and celebrate the spirit of togetherness! Let’s honour Sardar Patel’s vision of a united India.”

The Run for Unity is a central feature of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations, which commemorate Sardar Patel’s extraordinary contribution in integrating more than 500 princely states to form a unified India after independence.

Highlighting Patel’s enduring legacy, PM Modi noted that India’s diversity is its greatest strength, and the spirit of unity envisioned by Patel continues to inspire the nation.

As part of the celebrations, the government has planned a grand event at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, featuring a parade by participants from various states and central armed police forces. Citizens can register online to take part in the event and demonstrate their commitment to national integration.

PM Modi’s call has received enthusiastic responses from citizens, reflecting a collective desire to celebrate India’s unity in diversity and pay tribute to one of the nation’s greatest leaders.
